Retired Excise Officers' Association — Founded

INDRA HOTEL, Kadawata, Gampaha District, Western Province.

On Saturday, 24 May 2025, forty-nine retired excise officers gathered at the INDRA HOTEL banquet hall in Kadawata to ceremoniously inaugurate the Retired Excise Officers' Association. This day — and this event — stands as a historic milestone for all retired excise officers and officerettes of Sri Lanka.

Fundamental Objectives of the Excise Department

First Excursion & Assembly — Anuradhapura

⏱ Full day📍 Royal Residency Hotel

Two-day, one-night programme. General assembly held at Royal Residency Hotel, Anuradhapura on 31 October 2025, followed by religious activities on 1 November 2025. Organised with the support of Senior Advisor Executive Committee Member R.M.P.B. Dharmakirthi and Northern Province Organiser Executive Committee Member S.K. Wanigatunga. Several officers were appointed to new positions at this assembly.

Held on 13 June 2026 at the Grand Amalya Hotel, Homagama, the anniversary was attended by a large gathering of retired excise officers. Through this website, members can access the Association's day-to-day information, social welfare activities, member details, and other important updates. Built to keep pace with modern technology, the website will be of great service to retired excise officers.

Sisu Nena Saviya — First Scholarship Awarded

⏱ 22 September 2026 — Morning📍 481/D

The Association's "Sisu Nena Saviya" social-welfare programme — under the theme "Strength for Knowledge, Light for the Future" — awarded its first scholarship to a bright Grade 7 schoolgirl, to be paid monthly over a full year. The award was made on the morning of 22 September 2026 at 481/D, Mullegama North, with the participation of Grama Niladhari Mrs. Arangala, Secretary General M. R. Somarathna, Chief Organiser Shirley Wijesinghe, and Auditor / North Western Province Organiser Prabath Jayawickrama. The student's certificate along with this month's scholarship payment and a gift were presented, and the girl's mother was also present. As the student is a minor (about 12 years old), a standing order has been set up at the Bank of Ceylon, Homagama, so the scholarship is credited to her mother's Bank of Ceylon account on the 25th of every month. — M. Annual Fraternity Trip — Call for Proposals

Circular inviting members to propose a location for the Association's annual fraternity trip and friendly gathering. As decided at the executive committee meeting held on 26 July, the event will take place in late October or the first week of November, and — at the wish of all members — will now be a two-day programme instead of a single day. Members are asked to send their preferences or proposals as soon as possible by phone, email, WhatsApp, or post. A proposal to hold it in the Kandy area has already been received.

Second Fraternity Trip 2026 — Kothmale (Malaya Ratata)

⏱ 29–30 October 2026 (2 days)📍 Kotmale Holiday Resort

The Association's Second Fraternity Trip — "Colombata Purein Malaya Ratata" — a two-day, one-night excursion to the central highlands, staying at Kotmale Holiday Resort in Kothmale. The journey runs via Kottawa, Kadawatha, Meerigama, Kurunegala and Gampola. Sights to be enjoyed include the Kothmale Reservoir, Mahaweli Maha Saya, the Ellalena hanging bridge, Ramboda Falls, and tea estates. The friendly gathering features a tea reception, music, group photography, games and competitions, a remembrance of senior members, and souvenir gifts, alongside a general assembly.
